Warehouse Arts District Association Tree Planting
Over the course of two sunny mornings, Take MAR teamed up with the Warehouse Arts District Association (WADA) to green up one of St. Pete’s most creative corners.
Phase 1 - April 30, 2025
We kicked things off by planting 21 trees and bamboo around the WADA campus to add beauty, shade, and a touch of nature to this vibrant space.
What we planted:
9 Italian cypresses
5 yaupon hollies
7 seabreeze bamboo
It was one of those perfect Florida mornings. Sunny, breezy, and full of good energy. With a strong crew from both WADA and Take MAR, we knocked out the planting in just three hours. Everyone jumped in with shovels and smiles, making the space look more alive.
Phase 2 - May 21, 2025
A few weeks later, the Take MAR team returned to the Warehouse Arts District for Round 2 of tree planting, adding the finishing touches to this growing green space. This time, we went big—literally. With the help of a volunteer crew, we planted:
One 14-foot tall pink tabebuia
Two 30-gallon yellow tabebuias
The pink tabebuia will stand out as a signature feature that blooms bright pink in winter and spring and adds a bold touch to the district’s artistic landscape. Getting these large trees into the ground took teamwork, and a forklift! But thanks to the strength and enthusiasm of the crew, everything went smoothly, and the space is now greener, cooler, and even more inviting.
Why This Work Matters
Planting trees in urban areas helps cool down the space, support local wildlife, and create a more welcoming environment for the community. WADA is already a hub for local artists, and now it's becoming greener too. We’re proud to continue this partnership with WADA and grateful for every volunteer who shows up to help transform our city with trees. Stay tuned for more updates as the Warehouse Arts District keeps blooming.
