World Oceans Day Celebration - Yoga Flow & Beach Clean-Up
On June 8th, Take MAR teamed up with The Grounded Nomad Co. for a World Oceans Day celebration at North Beach, Fort De Soto Park. It was an impactful and inspiring morning of movement, connection, and environmental stewardship.
MORNING YOGA FLOW SESSION
The day started off bright and early at 8 a.m. with a serene yoga Flow session led by Devon from The Grounded Nomad Co. Known for blending wellness, hospitality, and community, The Grounded Nomad Co. curates immersive experiences that reconnect people to themselves, one another, and the natural world through thoughtful, presence-filled gatherings rooted in intention and sustainability. Under the cool shade of the park shelter, she guided 20+ participants through a grounding yoga flow that set a heart-centered tone for the rest of the day. After the session, attendees mingled and rehydrated with delicious spirulina electrolyte boosters provided by Devon, which provided the perfect fuel as we geared up to clean the beach!
Beach Clean-Up
Volunteers walked around North Beach throughout the grassy dunes and shoreline, picking up litter and marine debris. After about an hour, they returned with buckets and bags full of trash, including cans, plastic and glass bottles, food wrappers, straws, cups, towels, socks, flip-flops, and more. In total, our group collected 41.01 pounds of trash from the shoreline!
To close out the event, we held a raffle giveaway. One lucky winner took home a dolphin tour for two, a beach tote, towel, seed packets, and a Take MAR yearbook.
Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating World Oceans Day. The energy of care, connection, and community you brought to the day made a real difference in protecting our local treasures. We are especially grateful to Devon for leading such a restorative yoga experience and helping us ground our environmental action in intentionality.
